Zusammenfassung:The device controls an automatic step gear in a motor vehicle with the aid of an electronic control device (27) which produces switching instructions for the friction elements (14 to 19) of the step gear (10) from operating parameters (n1, n2, L) of the motor vehicle and additionally takes into account the temperature (T) of the step gear (10). Here, the temperature (T) is determined from the electrical resistance of a gear element which can be varied as a function of temperature (Figure 1).
