Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to the field of metallurgy and is applicable to the peeling and deformation of, in particular, wire. With the aid of the invention, the prerequisites for a substantial reduction in costs, energy and time are provided. The object on which the invention is based is to develop a process in which the number of process stages is substantially reduced and a continuous working method to produce a peeled and deformed wire wound onto a spool is possible. According to the invention, the deformation material immediately downstream of the peeling die and if necessary the peeling die itself are supplied with a liquid composed of an organic solvent and one or more metal stearates dissolved and/or dispersed therein. The liquid film thus formed on the material downstream of the peeling die is dried and the material is then fed, avoiding any surface- and heat-treating steps and the application of a lubricant, to one or more downstream drawing stages for deformation with a degree of individual deformation of more than 15%.
