Automatic device for centring and mounting lenses

An automatic device for centring and mounting lenses is described which is chiefly characterised in that the mounting spindle is vertical. The lens mounts are successively inserted, with already inserted lens, on this spindle by means of a gripping mechanism which transports these mounts to the spindle and back from a feed disc which is arranged next to the spindle and can be rotated in a stepwise fashion. Arranged coaxially above the spindle is a plunger which consists of an internal centring plunger and a sleeve-shaped mounting plunger embracing the latter. Both plungers can be displaced relative to one another in the axial direction against a spring force. After a mount with lens has been placed on the mounting spindle, the plunger is lowered. In this process, the inner centring plunger first strikes the lens and centres the latter. Thereafter, the actual mounting plunger strikes the mounting ridge of the lens mount and bends the latter over. The movements of the individual parts of the device are controlled in a properly timed fashion relative to one another by a control mechanism.
