Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to the electromagnetic heating of metal. The installation according to the invention contains at least one inductor (4), at least one electromagnet (5) and a power supply which is connected to a multi-phase network. The power supply contains two autotransformers (1, 2) and a control capacitor (3). According to the invention, the autotransformers carry out a plurality of functions in the installation according to the invention. Thus, in the specific embodiment variants, each connects the functions of the supply source of the inductor (4) and of the electromagnet (5) to those of current balancing and compensation for the reactive power. At its most successful, the installation according to the invention can be used for preheating and metered casting of metals into casting moulds.
