Telephone set for use as a desktop or wall-mounted unit

Due to the inverted V-shaped design of the underside of the telephone set, the latter can be used as a desktop unit as well as a wall-mounted unit, where the lower of the two surfaces lies parallel to the support surface for use as a desktop unit or the upper of the two surfaces lies parallel to the wall surface for use as wall-mounted unit. Due to a special design of the hook switch and a hook attached to the handset below the earpiece, secure support and actuation of the hook switch are guaranteed for both positions of use. For use as a desktop unit, the telephone set is mounted on a special base provided for this purpose, while for use as a wall-mounted unit it is fixed to a mounting plate attached to the wall. In both cases, a tongue which is attached to the base or to the mounting plate and which can be inserted in the telephone set housing is used for fixing purposes.
