Spring clamping tool

A spring clamping tool for compressing a helical spring, in particular the helical spring of a MacPherson strut unit, is described. The clamping tool contains two pressure shoes which are arranged at a distance from one another, each of which has a helical recess which serves for engagement with a winding section of the helical spring. Each pressure shoe is furthermore provided with a lockable blocking device which can extend over the particular helical recess in order to hold the particular winding section of the helical spring in the particular recess during the compression. The two pressure shoes are arranged on a screw bolt to be able to alter their distance. The screw bolt permits adjustment of the distance of the two pressure shoes while the spring clamping tool is in use.
