Seismic data acquisition system

In a system for the acquisition of data in the field of seismic exploration for the purpose of digital storage of the temporal variation of vibrations generated by artificial ground vibrations, the aim is to facilitate data acquisition by arranging that up to a frequency level of 2 kHz there is no limitation in principle to the number of channels, and the lines for transmitting analogue signals can be kept very short. The invention achieves this object by means of a multiplicity of small, decentral recording units located directly at the measurement site for digitising and intermediately storing the measured data, and by means of a central control unit for sequentially calling up the measured data and relaying the same to a memory.
