Zusammenfassung:	In the case of an effluent pumping device, which for safety reasons has two pumps, both pumps are arranged in separate pump sumps. The flow of effluent admitted is divided at least approximately evenly so that roughly equal quantities pass into both pump sumps. Both pumps are used for pumping. In the event of one pump failing, the effluent from the pump sump of the defective pump passes into the pump sump of the remaining serviceable pump.
