Zusammenfassung:	The direction control for a heading machine, equipped with adjusting cylinders for the lateral and vertical correction and intended in particular for driving gate roads in underground mining, is carried out with a laser suspended behind the heading machine in the road and with a receiving and monitoring set allocated to the heading machine. To reliably control the heading machine, the invention provides for a laser-light-sensitive receiving diode array (5) and a microprocessor (10) to serve as the receiving and monitoring set, which microprocessor (10) is connected to actuators (11) for various adjusting cylinders (13, 14, 15) and to measuring sensors (18, 19), allocated to the boring head (1), for the forces which are applied or occur.
