Zusammenfassung:Device for monitoring the coal flow through a line (16 in Fig. 1) from a coal bunker (12) to a feeder (18). A detector (32) sensitive to radiation determines the amount of coal present in a line section (16) and produces an impulse sequence which is scanned to determine whether the line section (16) is empty, partly filled or completely filled. If the line section (16) is partly filled, a partial-flow alarm is produced. If the line section (16) is empty, an empty alarm is produced and the feeder (18) is stopped after a predetermined quantity of coal has been deposited on the feeder (18). If the line section (16) is partly filled and a shut-off valve (14) between the coal bunker (12) and the line (16) is closed, a coal-accumulation alarm is produced. If the line section (16) is filled and the coal profile on the feeder (18) does not correspond to the full profile, a coal-blockade alarm is produced. If the line section (16) is partly filled and the coal profile on the feeder (18) corresponds to the full profile, a ventilation alarm is produced. A self-test switching circuit periodically simulates each of these states for checking the device.
