Zusammenfassung:	There is described a sanitary towel adapted to suit the anatomical shape of the body which comprises a dimensionally stable, elongate absorbent body (1) which has a central groove (2) extending in the longitudinal direction and whose side, which faces the user's body during use, is concavely shaped in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The absorbent body is covered at the top with a liquid-permeable film and at the bottom with a liquid-impermeable film, which films are connected to one another at their edges. At the rear end (7) of the central groove (2) there is a termination protuberance (8) whose peak (9) is at least as high as the lateral elevations (10). The liquid-permeable film (4) is preferably bonded to the surface of the absorbent body (1). Due to its shaping the towel everywhere fits tightly against the body and has a large liquid-storing capacity.
