Zusammenfassung: | The process for gas-nitriding workpieces of metals and alloys comprises heating the workpieces to the saturation temperature of the metals and alloys. After the temperature corresponding to the starting temperature of the dissociation of the saturating agent with formation of active nitrogen has been reached, a direct magnetic field is generated in the working space and crossed by an alternating magnetic field of technical frequency. Subsequently, the workpieces are held at this temperature and cooled to a temperature which corresponds to the temperature of the completion of the transformations in the iron/ nitrogen/carbon system. The action of the magnetic fields is then switched off and cooling of the workpieces is continued. |
