Zusammenfassung:Solid, largely nitrate-free alkali metal nitrates are prepared by reaction of nitrous gases with aqueous solutions of alkalis by the reaction being terminated while the solution still has a content of from 1 to 5% by weight of free alkali. The solution is then immediately boiled down, the precipitated nitrite is separated from the mother liquor and is dried in direct contact with combustion gases. The mother liquor is recycled into the process.
