Date Dec. 23, 1982.Aryl-mercapto-lower-alkanamides having the following formula wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of phenyl, C1-4-alkylphenyl, halophenyl, hydroxyphenyl, C1-4-alkoxyphenyl, aminophenyl, acetamidophenyl, naphthyl, diphenyl; R2 and R3, independently represent hydrogen or C1-14-alkyl; Y represents NR4R5 wherein R4 and R5 independently represent hydrogen, C1-6-alkyl, C2-3-hydroxyalkyl, benzyl, anilyl, and taken together represent piperidyl or morpholinyl are useful for reducing cell sebum production in a mammal in the form of a topical cosmetic preparation.
