Bis(aminomethyl)anthraquinone derivatives, processes for their preparation, compositions containing them, and their use

Novel bis(aminomethyl)anthraquinone derivatives of the formula and their salts with physiologically tolerable acids are described, as are processes for their preparation. The novel compounds are active against protozoa, in particular against trichomonads. In the above formula, R and R , which are identical or different, denote hydrogen, straight-chain or branched alkyl having up to four carbon atoms, or R and R together denote an alkylene chain having four, five or six carbon atoms which, with the nitrogen atom, form a five-, six- or seven-membered heterocyclic ring which can contain a further heteroatom from the group consisting of nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur and, for its part, can be substituted by straight-chain or branched alkyl having one to four carbon atoms.
