"Thermal flowmeter"

A thermal flowmeter for measuring the mass flow of a gaseous or liquid medium flowing in a line is described, which consists of a metallic pipe section provided with a heating element and temperature measuring devices for a medium upstream and downstream of the heating element. A simple and reliable temperature measurement is achieved by means of a construction in which the heated pipe section (1) consists of a material having a known thermoelectric force and the two ends (4) of this pipe section (1) are each bonded to a wire (3) made of a material having a different thermoelectric force. Based on the thermoelectric voltage produced, the temperature difference between the inflow and the outflow temperature of the medium is determined.
