Zusammenfassung:	The effectiveness of the energies employed for drying and/or preheating fine-grained and also dusty solids, such as coal, by means of a heat carrier gas in cocurrent is to be improved. In a downdraught dryer with conical and funnel-shaped internals below one another, spin-inducing baffles extending in the same direction obliquely in each case to the radius of the essentially circular-cylindrical downdraught channel are fitted to the lower part of each of the conical internals. These conical internals are fitted together with the spin-inducing baffles to a common shaft and can be driven in the direction of rotation.
