Garden implement

The invention provides a garden implement which can be used optionally as lawnmower and as so-called garden chopper, i.e. as a comminution device for waste plant material. For this purpose, a so-called rotor mower, that is to say lawnmower, which has one or more cutting blades which rotate about a vertical axis, move in a plane parallel to the ground and can be driven by a motor and has a housing which covers the cutting blade or blades at the top and at the sides and is supported on the ground by means of wheels and bears on its upper side the drive motor and has on a side wall a discharge channel for the mowed material, can be converted into a comminution device by means of interchangeable attachments. For the purpose of conversion, a charging hopper is connected to the mower housing, which hopper opens into the mower housing via a feed opening which is located inside the circle of rotation described by the cutting blades and parallel to their plane of rotation and is arranged in the region just upstream of the branching off of the discharge channel. The region of the feed opening is assigned a counterblade which forms a chopping gap together with the cutting blades.
