Zusammenfassung:	A right circular cylindrical billet (19) of a corrosion-resistant metal is formed into a cup (22) having closed and open ends (23) and (24), respectively and a concentric cavity (25) by backward extension. A close- fitting right circular cylindrical billet of a metal having a high thermal conductivity is press-fitted into the cavity (25) to form a composite billet which is inserted into a close-fitting bore of a die (50) having an extrusion orifice (53) of a diameter less than that of the bore. A plunger (55) extrudes all of the composite billet except a terminal portion (58) adjacent the filled end to form an electrode blank (57) having a core (60) and a shell (61) with an upper headed portion (58) and a rod portion (59).
