Zusammenfassung: | Desulphurisation of smoke, with formation of S and CO2 as sole end prods. in accordance with the total balance, is accomplished by combining the reactions: (a) SOx + Na2CO3 to Na2SO(x+1) + CO2; (b) Na2SOx + (x/2)C to Na2S + (x/2)CO2; (c) Na2S + CaCO3 to Na2CO3+CaS; (d) CaS + H2O + CO2 to CaCO3 + H2S; (e) H2S + 1/2O2 to H2O +S. In the formulae, x is 1 and/or 3 for (a) and 3 and/or 4 for (b). The process is useful for cleaning smoke from power stations and large combustion plants. In effect, the process consumes only coal and atmos. O2 and does not give troublesome end-prods. |
