Zusammenfassung: | 1. A process for the preparation of 1,2-dichloroethane by reacting ethylene with chlorine in the presence of a catalyst, in which a liquid mixture of 1,2-dichlorethane and chlorine is introduced at the upper end of a reaction zone whose length is from 5 to 30 times its diameter and which contains a gas mixture containing from 0,3 to 30 per cent by volume of ethylene, from 5 to 25 liters of the liquid mixture being employed per 1,000 liters of the gas mixture, and chlorine being present in the liquid mixture in such an amount that from 1 to 1.2 moles of chlorine are present per mole of ethylene, and the temperature in the reaction zone is kept at from 0 to 90 degrees C, wherein the diameter of the particles of the liquid mixture is less than 500 mu, and the average residence time of the gas mixture is from 0.2 to 10.0 seconds. |
