Dental tools (e.g. drill bits) have their workinq surface coated with cubic boron nitride (I). The coating of (I) can be deposited electrochemically. (I) is almost as hard as diamond and tends to split more readily under stress, thus imparting a self-sharpening effect to the coated tool.
