Zusammenfassung:	The four-stroke IC engine has a piston (2) with a recess (5) to form a swirl combustion chamber. Fuel is injected by an injector (6) to give fuel sprays (12,13). The swirling fuel cloud is ignited by two spark plugs, one of which (7) is near the injector (6) with the other (8) diametrically opposite. The arrangement gives optimum combustion conditions under both full load and low load running conditions. By placing the injector (6) and spark plugs (7,8) near the edge of the cylinder, the inlet and outlet valves (9,10) can be made larger for improved breathing.
