Zusammenfassung:	A control system is for a machine tool or press with a protective mechanism. The working area is closed off by an adjustable protective shield. The latter (12) is first swivelled into position when the workpiece is mounted and the machining operation is started. The protective shield in its end position actuates a sensor (19). The sensor releases the drive unit from its upper limit position to execute one working stroke. The return of the protective shield is initiated after the drive unit has returned to its original setting. The protective shield is operated by a separate drive unit (9). It consists of an electric motor operating a crank drive (10,11) with a pin and slotted hole coupling (13,14).
