Zusammenfassung:	Compounds of the formula wherein R is alkyl containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or monohalomethyl, A is halogen or CF3, B is hydrogen or halogen and n is 0-2, provided that when A is CF3 and B is hydrogen, R cannot be methyl, or agriculturally acceptable salts thereof are active as plant growth modifiers, e.g. herbicides, and may be obtained by partial hydrolysis of the corresponding bis(sulfonyl) compounds in which n is zero, followed by oxidation when compounds in which n is 1 or 2 are required.
