Leaching uranium from low grade ore - by rapid heating and oxidative pressure leaching of turbulent ore slurry
In the leaching of uranium from low grade ores by forming a sulphuric acid-contg. slurry into which oxygen is passed, the oxygen is at at least 30 bar overpressure and the suspension contains 600-1100 g/l solids so that a suspension turbulence with a Reynolds number of over 50000 is obtd. The suspen...

Zusammenfassung: | In the leaching of uranium from low grade ores by forming a sulphuric acid-contg. slurry into which oxygen is passed, the oxygen is at at least 30 bar overpressure and the suspension contains 600-1100 g/l solids so that a suspension turbulence with a Reynolds number of over 50000 is obtd. The suspension is heated up to 140-220 deg.C in max. 20 mins. and allowed to react for max. 15 mins. The process gives a high extraction rate (90-96%), requires only a short reaction time and produces an uranium soln. free of impurities. |
