Zusammenfassung:The seal is cooled by injecting air from the outlet of compressor diffuser 15 into a region between labyrinth teeth 20 at an angle in the direction of rotation of the seal teeth to minimize frictional heating of the injected air. Additionally, an outlet 36 for the cooling air is provided to a cavity 35 forward of the seal to purge this cavity and prevent stagnant air from heating the seal structure and other turbine components.
