Zusammenfassung:2-Q-5-Ar-7-R1-3H-1, 4-benzodiazepines of formula (I) are new. In (I) Q is a N-bonded 5-membered unsatd. heterocyclic gp. contg. 2 or 3 N atoms, opt. fused with a benzene ring; R1 is F, Cl, Br, CF3 or NO2; Ar is phenyl, 2-halophenyl or 2,6-dihalophenyl. Specific cpd. is (I) where Q is 1-imidazolyl, R1 is Cl and Ar is phenyl or 2-chlorophenyl. Cpds. (I) are prepd. e.g. by reacting (II) with QH. In (II) X is Cl, Br or di(morpholino)phosphoxyloxy. (I) are anticonvulsants useful for treating epilepsy; many have higher anticonvulsant activity and lower general tranquillising activity than diazepam.
