Fault testing installation for pipes or rods - has parking stations adjustable to match test piece length and inner and outer surface test units

Test devices are provided to detect surface faults of the inner and/or outer pipe jackets. They are arranged to reduce the overall length of the testing installation. The test path has a rotary roller bed to rotate the pipe or rod under test. An internal test unit can be made to traverse the pipe in the direction of its length axis. Parking stations are adjustable to suit the length of pipe under test. They are situated at both ends of the test path to receive the internal test unit when the pipe is changed. An outer test unit can be made to travel along the pipe's outer surface. Conveyors position and remove the pipe in or out of the test path.
