Zusammenfassung: | A guiding device for a sewing machine comprises a pair of parallel, similarly-constructed plates between which the workpiece is fed to the needle. In the inner face of each plate is a jet orifice which produces a stream of air directed towards the guide edge, and urging the workpiece into contact with it. The air jet is situated at the apex of a triangular recess in the inner face of the plate, the base of the triangle being adjacent, and parallel to, the guide edge. The workpiece encloses the open side of the recess, forming an expansion nozzle for the air-stream, which produces a suction effect keeping the fabric edge against the guide edge. The device endures a seam is parallel to the fabric edge. This construction facilitates the handling of the workpiece, and is less complicated than the original design. |
