Zusammenfassung:Municipal refuse is processed into compost by a multistage procedure. In the first stage, disintegration and screening separates the organic waste from that which cannot be turned into compost but is not brittle. After a fermentation stage, a second disintegration and screening stage prepares the material suitable for the particle size needed for the last stage. An electrostatic sepg. stage separates the compost from waste which cannot be turned into compost and is brittle. This supplies a compost which is free both from not brittle foreign bodies, (cloth, fibre material, metal, flexible plastics) and brittle materials (glass, ceramics, rigid plastics) and can be used immediately in agriculture and horticulture.
