Fly ash suppression during brown coal combustion - by adding calcium chloride

Method of reducing particulate emission during combustion of brown coal (opt. as briquettes) comprises adding 0.2-1.0 wt.% CaCl2 to the coal or the briquetting mixt. The CaCl2 is added in finely divided solid form or as a 15-35 wt.% aq. soln. The CaCl2 increases the density of the ash particles and...

Zusammenfassung:Method of reducing particulate emission during combustion of brown coal (opt. as briquettes) comprises adding 0.2-1.0 wt.% CaCl2 to the coal or the briquetting mixt. The CaCl2 is added in finely divided solid form or as a 15-35 wt.% aq. soln. The CaCl2 increases the density of the ash particles and thus reduces fly ash formation in domestic hearths and eases the load on electrostatic precipitators in industrial plants (e.g. power stations).
