Zusammenfassung: | The output of a boiling water reactor, which is linked with a processor to form a cooling circuit, is controlled by moving control rods with neutron absorbent material into the core. The control rods dip into the core from the top with a normal density of 20-60%. To raise the power when the minimum rod density has been reached, the water level in the reactor pressure vessel is raised by recycling more condensate from the steam processor. The reactor can be operated economically even with a lower power density. It has therefore a high inherent safety and is esp. suitable for smaller reactors in development countries. |
