Zusammenfassung:	The system prevents pitting of ball- or roller-bearings, particularly in motor vehicle gearboxes. When the bearing is stationary an axial pre-load is applied. There is no axial pre- loading when its two races are moving in relation to each other, but a preload is applied when they are both turning at the same speed. The pre-loading can be applied by an annular piston (11), or a number of individual pistons spaced round the periphery. The system can be used in a change-speed gearbox. Oil pressure can be used to exert the pre-loading.
