The holder system releasably secures a wheelchair in a passenger vehicle, having holders fixed to the front and rear of the chair frame and anchored to the vehicle floor. The holders (3,4) have hammer-head-shaped feet (6,14), engaging in apertures (20) in perforated plates (19) fixed to the vehicle floor (2) and used to secure seats or benches to the latter. Each holder can have a rigid bar-shaped component (5,15), and that at the front can have a belt (17) with an automatic winding mechanism (16). A safety belt (13) can be attached to the rear of the chair, for protection in the event of an accident.
