Zusammenfassung:It is important for the control of rail brakes in railway shunting systems to know the brake deceleration acting on the vehicles handled in the brakes because the value of this brake deceleration is of decisive significance for determining a derivative release action which takes into account the reaction time of the brake when releasing it. This value cannot be detected by means of a radar signal because radar signals are too unstable. According to the invention, a reference speed is predetermined for each section in the brake. By means of brake force corrections with respect to a previously determined reference braking force, the actual speed curve of the sections is matched, whilst maintaining an adequate control stability, to the curve of the reference speed in such a way that both proceed in parallel, offset in time to a greater or lesser degree. Then, in fact, the braking force which is actually acting on the section is of exactly the same size as the reference braking delay taken into account for the specification of the reference speed, and the derivative release action can be determined exactly.
