Centrifuge drum with cylindrical and conical zones - where worm profile is designed for efficient sepn. of solids from liquids, esp. from liquids with high viscosity

The drum contains a worm possessing a single- or multi-start helical blade. The cylindrical zone of the drum is used as a clarification zone, in which the blade forms a belt worm, where the flank height (h) is smaller than the distance(s) between the internal wall of the drum and the outer edge of the overflow (8). The belt worm is pref. fixed on the outer edge of several, and at least three, radial plates (10) aligned in the axial direction and fixed on the core of the worm; and plates (10) pref. contain holes (12) in the inlet zone. The pitch of the worm pref. increases towards the conical zone of the drum. Provides rapid and simple sepn. of the liq. and solids in a suspension where the solids settle only slowly.
