Noise reducing strip for lining motor vehicles, machines etc. - using porous filler with very low density so wt. of strip is reduced

Zusammenfassung: | Strip consists of >=1 binder, and >=1 filler, which is porous and has a low density. Binder is pref. bitumen, and/or plastic, and/or a bitumen/plastics mixt. Filler is pref. a material from which volatile matter has been removed, thus leaving pores. Volatile matter may be first added to the filler prior to its removal by heating. Filler is pref. milled to a particle size of 0.01-0.5 mm; and the strip is pref. coated with an adhesive which is covered by a foil removed immediately before attaching the strip to a motor car body or other object. A heat setting adhesive is pref. used. Attempts are currently being made e.g. to reduce the wt. of motor vehicles, and this tends to increase body noise such as "drumming." Invention provides a noise redn. material of very low wt. |
