Hand soldering iron with rapidly heated bit - where heater element consists of thin film resistor with positive temp. coefft. of resistance
The iron consists of a handle, a bit, and a heater element consisting of a film resistor. The resistor is pref. a thin film of metal with a positive temp. coefft. of resistance of min. 3.85 x 10-3/degrees C., and is esp. Pt 0.1-15 mu m thick. The film resistor is pref. located in the handle shank of...

Zusammenfassung: | The iron consists of a handle, a bit, and a heater element consisting of a film resistor. The resistor is pref. a thin film of metal with a positive temp. coefft. of resistance of min. 3.85 x 10-3/degrees C., and is esp. Pt 0.1-15 mu m thick. The film resistor is pref. located in the handle shank of the iron, esp. by brazing the ceramic substrate of the film to a metal shaft made of an alloy with a similar coefft. of thermal expansion to that of the ceramic. The film resistor pref. functions both as a heater element and also as a resistor for controlling the temp. of the bit. The invention provides rapid heat transfer from the film resistor to the solder bit, and the film has a long working life. |
