Zusammenfassung:	A vacuum furnace for heat-treating workpieces comprises a heat-treating chamber, a loading station, and a cooling station communicating with the cahbmer and a discharge station. A plurality of door assemblies provide sealing communication between adjacent stations during the processing of the workpieces. Work carts are moved through the furnace and stations on tracks using an elongated flexible spring as a transfer device. A toothed pulley is provided for driving the spring. Used for continuous processing of metal articles. Workpieces can be continuously treated without breaking the vacuum in the heating chamber. The vacuum sealed door assemblies have a combined lifting and pivotal action which provides a low profile to the furance. Hydraulic fluid for use in the various motors si circulated in a chamber adjacent the cooling jacket of the furnace heating chamber for cooling purposes.
