Concealed power cables location system - involves HF generator feeding signal to cable and directional receiver scanned over surface

A method is used for locating conductors and/or cables (4) concealed behind a surface and connected to a generator. It involves use of a receiver, moved over the surface. It is a high sensitivity method with a location accuracy to the nearest centimetre and variable resolution. Faulty indications are eliminated. Household equipment can be used for economy. HF generator (2) is connected to an accessible part of the conductor (1.1, 1.2) A HF directional receiver (3) scans the surface at a defined angle and locates field strength minima. These are plotted to give a field profile indicating the cable position.
