Educational device for determining the position of places, regions or courses (of rivers, railway lines etc.) on maps, town plans or the like, comprises such a map or plan on which the places, regions or courses are not marked. The map is covered with a transparent film e.g. PVC film, adapted to be written upon. A further transparent film can be placed upon map and 1st film. The places, regions or courses to be determined are indicated upon the 2nd film which is a type of template, thus enabling a student to associate the places etc. marked upon the template with the underlying map to any desired degree of pre-determined accuracy.
