Zusammenfassung:The driving unit for mechanically powered reciprocating grates has a synchronising shaft free to rotate inside a tubular carrier for the grate frame bars running on flanged wheels on guide-rails either side of the frame. The shaft is reciprocated horizontally by an hydraulic jack actong on a gudgeon pin on a shaft extension. Shaft alignment is maintained positively by racks alongside the rails engaging pinion segments fixed to the wheels. Shaft alignment can be maintained by straps girdling the shaft in opposite directions, held at the guide rail ends.
