Grill with smooth heating surface - has detachable grid to enable user to change pattern produced on food surface as desired

A grill with an otherwise smooth surface can be fitted with detachable grids which impart patterns to the surface of the food being grilled. The grids are built up from bars of round, rectangular or oval cross-section with a variety of different spacings and patterns. The cook is thus able to choose a grid to produce any desired patern with onl one grilling surface instead of having to use a different grill for each pattern. This device enables much cheaper cooking appliances to be produced.
