Zusammenfassung:The apparatus has a homing cylinder (4) and a feed mechanism comprising a feed roller (19) and a clamping member. A fibre sliver is fed to the fibre-opening apparatus, and from the fibre sliver individual fibres are supplied to the spinning rotor and are deposited as a small sliver twisted to form a yarn which is drawn off and wound onto a bobbin. Between the feed roller (19) and the combing cylinder (4) there is a connecting channel (11) which has an end wall (41) confronting the working surface (23) of the feed roller (19), side walls (42a) and a feed wall (43). A guide wall (47) merging into the hollow space (10) of the combing cylinder (4) and adjacent with an edge (48) to the working surface (23) of the feed roller (19) forms the rear part (46), whilst that portion of the working surface (23) of the feed roller (19) limited by the edge (48) and the entrance (44) of the connecting channel (11) forms the front part (45) of the feed wall (43) of the connecting channel (11). The depth (h) of the cross-section of the connecting channel (11) first increases from the entrance (44) and then decreases. In the event of a thread break, this design prevents the fibre sliver from running out of the connecting channel (11), and therefore the subsequent piecing operation can take place without difficulty.
