It has the cylinders arranged in-line and a rotary shaft (26) above the cylinder heads acting as an inlet and exhaust valve. The shaft extends parallel to the line of the cylinder and is in pressure-tight contact with the cylinder heads. It may contain an inlet duct (27) for the fuel mixt. connecting with the inlet ports via orifices (28-30) and exhaust ducts (33, 34) connecting with exhaust ports via orifices (35-42).
