Telecommunication cable comprising optical fibres - which run free of tension and torsional stresses by use of holding coil for support

Each optical fibre (2) composing the telecommunication cable is surrounded by a loose sheath (3). Several optical fibres sheathed in this way are arranged around a central element (1) in a spiral in a periodically alternating direction of rotation. Or, they can be arranged as triod or as a quad. They are enclosed by a holding coil (4). The length of twist and the periodical alternation of the stradning direction are in a ratio of 1:5 and the length of twist is 10 cm. The holding coil is wound round the optical fibres in direct proximity to the stranding point. The given relationships and dimensions are esp. favourable for relieving the optical fibre.
