Low sulphur oil prodn. from aq. sludges or slurries - esp. sewage sludge, by reacting with hot, pressurised synthesis gas
Process comprises coking the raw change (I) at 400-550 degrees F and 300-1200 psig for 5-120 minutes to form an aq. slurry contg. coked solids, removing 50-99% of the liquid, and contacting the remaining conc. slurry with hot, pressurised CO at 500-5000 psig and 500-750 degrees F to form low-sulphur...

Zusammenfassung: | Process comprises coking the raw change (I) at 400-550 degrees F and 300-1200 psig for 5-120 minutes to form an aq. slurry contg. coked solids, removing 50-99% of the liquid, and contacting the remaining conc. slurry with hot, pressurised CO at 500-5000 psig and 500-750 degrees F to form low-sulphur oil, gases, carbon and inorganic solids. Pref. a catalyst, selected from Na2CO3, NaHCO3, K2CO3 and KHCO3 is added to the concn. slurry to improve the conversion. (I) contains cellulose and other carbohydrates and is esp. sewage sludge. Compared with the process of the Bureau of Mines Report PB 203669, the slurry is much less dilute and thus the reactor for contacting with CO may be appreciably smaller. |
