Zusammenfassung:Process discloses esterification of a terpolymer prepd. from a monomer mixt. of (a) 40-60 mol% C2H4; (b) 40-60 mol.% (w.r.t. a + b) C2F4 or C2ClF3 and (c) 0.1-30 wt % (w.r.t. a + b + c) fluorinated ketone having formula XF2C-CO-CF2X' or tert. alcohol CH2=C R-CH2-C(OH)(CF2-X) (CF2X') (where X and X each is H, F, Cl or Br, 1-3C perfluoroalkyl or 1-3C omega-hydrofluoroalkyl, or X and X' together form a divalent 1-3C perfluoroalkylene gp. R is H or Me). Terpolymer is contacted with >=1 organic acid halide a and/or organic acid anhydride derived from an acid having pKa value 2-5. Contact takes place at 100-300 degrees C, with removal of HCl, HBr or HF formed from contact zone. After contact, esterified polymer formed is separated. Esterified polymers are used esp. as wire- or cable sheaths, partic. for high temp. use.
