The current measuring device is provided with a winding (2), enclosing the current conductor (1), as measurement sensor for the current (J) and with a device (6) forming a saturation current transformer, and with an analog/digital converter connected to the measurement sensor, to which light-emitting diodes are connected. To be able to produce such a current measuring device at little cost, the light-emitting diodes form the indicating elements of an indicating device (11) for the current (J); the indicating device (11) is combined with the measurement sensor (2), the saturation current transformer (6) and the analog/digital converter (10) to form one constructional unit (12) which is directly associated with the conductor (1) with the current to be measured. The measuring device can be mainly used in high-voltage switchgear.
